Purple Star Designation

Chesterton High School has been designated as a Purple Star School. The Duneland School Board of Trustees adopted a resolution on August 9, 2021 in support of Military Families.

Military service members and their immediate family members are entitled to job interviews for job openings within the Duneland School Corporation when they meet the minimum qualifications. In order to ensure qualifying service members and their immediate family members receive interview invitations, please notify the Human Resources Department prior to submitting an application. To honor CHS veterans on Veterans Day, many CHS Student Government members stayed after school to work on posters and candy mugs to give to each Veteran who works at CHS. Also, a special all-school announcement was read, including the reading of the names of CHS faculty and staff members who are veterans. Immediately following, "Taps" was played and an extended moment of silence.

CHS Students and Staff Celebrate Veterans

To honor Chesterton High School (CHS) veterans on Veterans Day, CHS Student Gov members decorated their office and classroom doors, as well as purchasing a sandwich/chip combo for veterans from Jimmy John's.

A special all-school announcement was read, including the reading of the names of CHS faculty and staff members who are veterans. Immediately following, "Taps" was played and an extended moment of silence.
